When in Rome..

Hello chickens! I've been away for the past few days in one of the most beautiful places in the world - ROMA! Oh my, I fell in love with it the instant I arrived. I went on a school trip with 42 other people and although the four days were extremely packed, full of walking and lack of sunglasses, it was brilliant. As I'm studying Classical Civilisation (Ancient History) at school, this was the perfect trip. All of the buildings and ruins were mesmerizing and I had a lovely time with my friends, not to mention the fact that in Rome, they have no care if you're 17 and drinking which was just brilliant.

The Colosseum in all its wonder was even more beautiful in the sun! It was so warm when we arrived, which was just the cherry on top of the cake. I couldn't believe that people had fought in the Colosseum and the importance it holds. Also, it amazed me that Russel Crowe was here filming for 'Gladiator' which just gives me goosebumps!

The Trevi Fountain was absolutely beautiful! We went at night time, which gave it a romantic ambiance which was a little depressing, but I was happy to be there with my girlies. There were a lot of men trying to take picture for you which was a little annoying, but it was actually less busy in the evening than it was in the afternoon, when we went another day.

On the third day we went to Pompeii, which was incredible. It was larger than I thought it would be, you could easily get lost within over a day. It was also sad to see the figurines/masks of the people who would have been hit with the lava/ash from Mount Vesuvius when it erupted. Although, there was a sense of humour when you'd find the odd penis on the wall to direct you to the nearest brothel. Also, there were lots of stray dogs which followed us around, they were so cute. My favourite part was going to the theatre (obviously) the structure of it back then was way better than it is now!

On the last day we went to the Vatican, of which we had a 3 hour tour..... It was long, but it was interesting. The detail of the paintings and the building itself was beautiful and incredible, however, walking around for three hours looking at very similar things was.. tiring. Although, I'm extremely happy that I got to go and see it because it's one of the things that everybody must see!

I think my favourite building of the whole trip was St Peter's Church. It was beautiful, the architecture and everything about it was mesmerizing. I fell in love with it straight away, it's the biggest church in the world and I applaud it, it's just gorgeous. I could have easily spent way longer in there than we had.

Now, just a few fun photos for y'all!

I'm so happy I went! However, I've returned home extremely ill, bleh.

Have you been anywhere this half term?
