The Makeup | NARS Sheer Glow Foundation Review

Oh NARS, you are beautiful and you have brought me to the point of reviewing your NARS Sheer Glow Foundation. I never used to branch out with foundations, I always thought you needed one for every occasion and everyday, I stuck to my trusty BENEFIT Playstick. However, now I have a large collection of foundations for different occasions and different looks that I want to achieve. For some reason or other, I decided to try out this foundation due to many reviews floating around and videos on youtuber. I also think this is my first ever NARS products and I had high expectations. I have done a video on my thoughts of this, so, if you'd rather watch that then click here

After my beautiful holiday in Nice, I went to a local SPACE NK store and got colour matched, the makeup artist was very flattering and complimented my skin. She even tried to talk me in to purchasing a moisturiser which was £80?! I said no, as I backed away to the counter with the shade 'Stromboli' (medium 3). One thing that I don't agree with is the price, it's very expensive at £30.50, but I couldn't resist. Another negative point is the annoying point of not having a pump. The packaging is very gorgeous, it's a glass bottle with the logo down the side, but with no pump at a high price is frustrating. This results in having to pour the foundation out of the bottle on to my hand which can be un-sanitary, wasteful and messy. You can actually buy a pump separately, but I don't see why they can't just add it to the bottle itself? I don't really fancy spending more money on it really.

You may think I have nothing positive to say, but I do have some good points! I really like the coverage and finish that this provides. I was a bit worried about the 'Sheer Glow' part, thinking it wouldn't be a high coverage and that it would make me look like a disco ball. However, after applying this myself, I couldn't have been more wrong. I think it's a medium-full coverage foundation and is buildable, to however you prefer. I do think it leaves my skin looking better than before, but I find that you do have to blend and buff it in quite a bit which leaves it slightly matte. The foundation isn't completely matte but it's not totally 'glowy', it's a mixture of both together. I don't think it makes me look cakey or as if I've applied layer after layer, it can look very natural and radiant. With this in mind, it means that when it comes to how much you pour out the bottle; less is definitely more. So, even though it's pricey, it'll last for a long time. I apply this with a brush, but apparently it gives off a natural finish if you use your fingers.

The staying power of the foundation is great, it lasts all day and you only need to touch-up with a little concealer and powder if you've got some oily patches. I believe that it's a foundation you have to get used to as for the first couple of times, I didn't like how it looked on my skin, but I do like it now. I feel that it does make my skin look so much better when applied and I don't apply a primer ever and the foundation does a good job of covering any bemishes or redness. I would recommend purchasing this foundation, but definitely buy the pump at the same time as you don't want to have to spend more money after buying it. If you have oily skin don't be put off by the name. My skin is normal-oily skin and the 'glow' doesn't give off any oilyness or shine, however, if you have dry skin, I wouldn't recommend it as it can highlight those dry patches.

  1. This does look really good on your skin. however, I'm also oily skin type and I'd be worried that after a few hours my face would look greasy as opposed to having a 'glow'. I tried Nars Matte foundation, but don't even bother, it's terrible!
