Little Ways To Be Happier

After writing such a negative post last week about how I was feeling, I wanted to stress my point on how we can all have those bad days or week, so I thought it would be good to come up with a few things that keep me happy. They're not big, life changing, long-term tips, but just a few little pointers on how you could feel better and happier.

1. If you're in an emotional stump and feel sad or stressed, remember that the way you're feeling won't last forever, whether it's a rejection from a job/university, even being heart broken.

2. Treat yourself, it's not good to eat rubbish food every day, but just for a night order that pizza, have that large chocolate bar and whip up that massive mug of hot chocolate with all the toppings.

3. Keep a folder or journal, I like to have a board on Pinterest, on quotes. These are usually to do with happiness or motivation, positivity. Quotes that I can look at and give myself a little boost and smile.

4. When you're having that bad day, like me last week, I used to dwell on it before I go to bed. Don't! Go to bed and say to yourself that you'll deal with everything with a clear head the next morning and remember that it's just one day in the year you can sweep away.

5. Don't stay cooped up inside, you can watch a film when it's dark outside, go for a run or a nice walk, wrap up warm and just embrace the outside and fresh air. You'll come back feeling refreshed and energised.

6. Try something new, whether it's a new recipe, lipstick, a book. Find something or do something you've always wanted to try but haven't yet.

7. Don't get bogged down with the bitching and the gossiping, it's hard, but women should be there for one another and supporting each other, not making each other feel insecure. If you haven't got something nice to say, don't say it at all.

8. It's best not to linger on things that have happened in the past, this will only get in your way in the present and future. Take that bad experience and use it for something better and a lesson learnt.

9. If you're feeling low, pick up the phone and speak to a relative, friend or partner. Sometimes speaking to someone about how you feel or not, just chatting with somebody can improve your mood.

10. Stop comparing yourself to other people, what will you gain from it? We're all different shapes and sizes with different interests and goals. Some people will be doing better than you and that's ok! Usually, the thing you don't like about yourself someone else adores. We do have those 'I look poo' today days, but those are the days where you shrug and where the baggiest clothes you have, grab that tea and switch on Netflix.

  2. This is a really good post! I'm the worst at comparing myself to people and it always gets me down, but there really is no point!! Everyone is completely different xx

  3. Such a lovely post, I love number 4! it's hard not dwell on things before bed, but if you tell yourself to deal with everything tomorrow, generally you realise what you were upset about wasn't to big of a problem! and I admire the one about going out for a walk if you feel down, I find that so hard to do though, generally I just want to hide under the covers, but I will start taking all this into account, so many nice ideas to perk yourself up
