Why I Blog

My first blog post was back in October 2012 and I'm still doing it today, January 2015 - I can't believe it. I'm so happy that I started up 'Beauty Flutters', it has enabled me to really get creative and write about whatever I wanted. At first, I thought I was limited to only beauty and fashion, but I've really come to realise that this is my space and I can write about anything I want, that's the great thing about having a blog. Having a voice and sharing it with those who want to listen/read what you're thinking about. To be honest, it did all start with Bebo, then Dailybooth and then I believe Blogger stole my heart. I supposed the consistency began in 2013 and so, the question is, why have I been blogging for so long and why do I continue?

It's really interesting having a digital record of the things that I've done, what I've been loving, wearing, the places I've been and it's sort of like an online scrapbook. Documenting my life this way is fun for me and enables me to be more creative with the way I do it. I enjoy taking photos, experimenting with it, then editing them and writing up the content to match with it. It might not seem very creative to those who don't do it, but i'm always learning and finding new ways to do and share things.

Blogging is a great way to meet other people, form friendships and build support networks. I've met so many lovely people through blogging, I do think the community is one that's really strong and encourages one another to keep going. It's so lovely to see what everybody experiences, what's happening in their world and meeting them too. Plus, you ultimately find someone that is interested in the same things that you are, meaning, a great path to conversation and hopefully, a new friendship.

Having a blog does take commitment, but I love spending hours and hours pouring my time in to my blog because I love it and I find it fun to do. Just writing one post leads to researching, writing, editing, photographing and more, such as being organised, getting involved with social media and working with different brands. It's more than just taking a pretty picture and writing a sentence or two to go with it.  I love clicking that 'publish' button and reading all the different comments that comes with it, which always brings a smile to my face. I also really enjoyed writing my blog survey, as I got to pin down what you guys wanted to see from me. Despite the fact that there are so many blogs out there, none of them will have the same voice as me or have the exact same content, this space is really mine. Blogging takes up a lot of time, but ultimately I enjoy it and as long as I feel that way, I'll keep doing it. As long as you'll have me that is.

  1. I feel the same way about blogging. I just started a few months ago, but it has became a creative outlet for me and have developed a passion for it!

  2. I've just started my own blog. I had been thinking about doing it for a while and I finally pulled the trigger. I have so many ideas and I can't wait to see where it takes me. I have one post up and will hopefully start some uniformity and commitment to posting frequently this week. Bloggers like you are such an inspiration!
