Running Take Two


I haven't been running since October, the 30th to be exact, mainly due to the mornings being dark till about 8:30am and then the evenings being dark at about 5:30pm. Not being able to see is a big thing when your eye sight is -4.0! Rupert started running a month ago in preparation for his half marathon which he completed in 2 hours and 6 minutes, congrats to him. But, whilst he was "training", I say this loosely as he didn't do near enough what he should have done, I got this itch to start running again. Which surprised in itself as two or three years ago, I wouldn't have felt that at all and would have settled down with a digestive. 

So, a week or two ago I picked up my trainers, out on my running gear and headed out. It was better than I thought it would be, I mean it was hard, I hadn't been running for five months. But, it felt so good to do it that it kept me going. I picked a fabulous day to start running again as well, the sun was shining, the birds were singing and there was no one in sight to watch me puff and huff whilst I did my course. I was so satisfied with my time and pace, which I trustily checked on my Nike+ Running App, and thought it would be rubbish due to my long break. However, it was one of my best and was even better than my very first stats, which shows definite improvement from day one. 

As I haven't been feeling to well recently, I haven't been running everyday, also my eyes are extremely swollen so it's difficult to see! So, instead I'll take the dog for a 40/50 minute walk in the sunshine and it's so lovely. Getting a break from the internet and the laptop, not even listening to music, but just heading out for a walk has been lovely. Get that exercise guys and even better, do it in the sun!
